Schrodinger's Gears

gears I'm entering the latter stages of a new downloadable model. I've had fun making the gears work!
There are sixteen teeth on the large gear , four on the small one. So, over all a reduction of four to one. The four tooth gear is 15mm wide, this is to allow for warping in the large gear, it can have a fair amount of twist before the teeth loose contact with each other.
Because of the saw tooth shape of the gear teeth the gear only works properly in one direction. schrod Posted by robives at June 20, 2004 05:22 PM

Looks like fun! I always enjoy watching gear trains mesh... especially in paper. :)

Well !
nice gears indeed !
I'm presently working on a "stop and go" motion
wich use gears and cams.....
I think your gear design is nicely "uncomplicated"
I'll try it on my project..
best (unfoldeds) regards
