2:1 Gear (ish)

For a new model. (As yet unnamed) I need a two to one reduction in speed so have created this gear set. Based loosely on the gears used in the Schrodinger's cat model, the small gear has five teeth, the large one eleven. Using none divisible number like this evens out any wear in the gear teeth.

This gear seems to run smoother that the Schrodinger's cat gear and works happily in both directions. On with the model! Cams next. The problem currently is that the two axles are very close together - not much room for a cam. I think I have a solution... Posted by robives at February 6, 2005 08:45 PM
